JR Academy × CloudTech Melbourne 03 / 12 — The Subject
The subject of the workshop · Direct from openclaw.ai

"The AI that actually does things."

OpenClaw is an open-source personal AI assistant by Austrian developer Peter Steinberger (@steipete, creator of PSPDFKit). You talk to it via WhatsApp / Telegram / Discord / Slack — it clears your inbox, sends emails, manages your calendar, even checks you in for flights. Everything runs on your own machine. Recently partnered with VirusTotal for Skill Security.
What makes it new

Actually executes — not just chats.

ChatGPT tells you how to unsubscribe. OpenClaw does it for you. That's the category jump.

Where it lives

On your computer, via your phone.

Installed locally. Your data stays on your device. You control it from WhatsApp / Telegram wherever you are.

Self-extending

Writes its own Skills.

Say "connect to Todoist" — it authors the plugin, tests it, and uses it next time. No code, no API docs.

JR Academy × CloudTech Melbourne 04 / 12 — The Problem
The problem we solve

"I've watched the AI demos,
but nothing is running on my laptop."

Every knowledge worker has watched hundreds of AI demos, followed dozens of influencers, bookmarked "must-have" AI tool lists. Yet on their actual laptop, only ChatGPT is open. The gap between awareness and adoption is massive — and it's where most paid AI courses fail. This 2.5-hour evening workshop closes that gap in one sitting.

Typical online AI course

  • Video lectures on concepts
  • No real installation, no real account setup
  • 70% of buyers never finish
  • Attendees leave with notes, not tools
  • "I'll set it up this weekend" — they never do

Our OpenClaw workshop

  • Installed on the attendee's own laptop — in the room
  • AI-guided "Quest" mode + 1:5-1:8 human tutor ratio
  • One real task completed before they leave
  • Personalized configuration that writes "like you"
  • Walks out with a working AI assistant, not a PDF

The audience in the room · Chinese-speaking professionals · Filtered

Premium Chinese-speaking professionals.
Screened, paid, committed.

JR Academy's core community is Chinese-speaking professionals and SMB owners in Australia. This 6 May workshop is conducted in Mandarin — a segment CloudTech has likely had limited exposure to. Attendees pay a fee + fill a short intake form, filtering out tire-kickers. What CloudTech gets in the room is 20–30 serious mid-career Mandarin-speaking buyers. (English-language workshops are an easy follow-up — see slide 11.)

JR Academy × CloudTech Melbourne 07 / 12 — Why CloudTech
Why we're asking CloudTech specifically

AI and Web3 are both
frontier tech. Your audience overlaps ours.

We considered co-working spaces and hotel conference rooms, but CloudTech stands out — you're already a recognised Web3 hub in Melbourne, and the people in your orbit are exactly the people leaning into emerging tech. Running an AI workshop at a Web3 venue signals "this is where Melbourne's emerging-tech community meets," and lifts both brands.
Reason 1 · Audience overlap

Web3 + AI = same early-adopter profile

Web3 builders and AI adopters are largely the same people: tech-forward, frontier-curious, willing to pay to learn. Your community is our audience.

Reason 2 · Brand credibility

Web3 credibility = emerging-tech credibility

Attendees walking into a known Web3 venue immediately perceive the workshop as serious, not hobbyist. That expectation lift matters when they're paying AUD 150.

Reason 3 · Central location

Melbourne CBD access

Central enough for CBD-based professionals after work, with parking / transit for suburban SMB owners.

Reason 4 · Not a one-off

Building the emerging-tech habit.

If this lands, we'd love to make CloudTech a recurring venue and explore AI × Web3 crossover events (see slide 11). 4–6 events per year is realistic.

JR Academy × CloudTech Melbourne 08 / 12 — Partnership Value
What CloudTech gets in return

Partnership value, broken down.

Brand visibility · In the room

Logo on registration, materials, name-tags.

CloudTech is visibly the host venue throughout all pre-event and in-event touchpoints.

Brand visibility · Digital

Logo on event landing page, social posts.

Minimum 4 cross-promotional posts across WeChat, Xiaohongshu, LinkedIn, WeCom groups.

Direct audience access

5–10 minute speaking slot at opening.

A CloudTech rep introduces the venue and your services to 20–30 targeted attendees in person during the welcome segment.

Lead generation

Opt-in attendee list.

Attendees who opt in (clear GDPR/Australian Privacy Act consent) are shared with CloudTech for future follow-up.

Co-branded content

Post-event case study.

Co-authored write-up of the event for both parties' marketing channels — evergreen asset for your sales team.

Strategic positioning

CloudTech = Melbourne's AI × Web3 emerging-tech venue.

CloudTech's Web3 brand + JR Academy's AI audience = the two frontier-tech communities in one venue. If this repeats, CloudTech owns the "where emerging tech happens in Melbourne" position.

JR Academy × CloudTech Melbourne 09 / 12 — Venue Requirements
What we need from the space

Practical requirements.

Nothing exotic — a standard CloudTech training room should already meet this spec. Flagged here so we can confirm fit quickly.
Space

Room for 20–30 with tables

Laptop-workshop seating (tables, not theatre). Tutors circulate, so aisles between rows.

Connectivity

WiFi for 30+ concurrent devices

Each attendee downloads OpenClaw + authenticates LLM API keys simultaneously during S02 install. Guest network fine if bandwidth is sufficient.

AV

Projector + HDMI/USB-C + microphone

Standard A/V setup. We bring adapters as backup.

Power

Power outlets at each seat

2.5-hour session with laptops actively running — battery alone won't last for most attendees.

Timing

5:00 – 9:00 PM venue access

1-hour setup before (AV test, tutor stations, check-in) · Event 6:00–8:30 PM · 30 min pack-down after.

Refreshments (we handle)

Water, coffee, light evening snacks

We source refreshments independently for an evening crowd. Venue just needs kitchenette access or delivery acceptance.
