v2rayNG

Recommended
Price:Free, open sourceBest for:Mainstream; multi-protocol; widely used in Asia

Grab the .apk from the latest release. Google Play also has it but is unavailable in some regions.

Shadowsocks Android

Classic
Price:Free, open sourceBest for:SS protocol only; minimal UI

Project is archived but the app still works. F-Droid also mirrors it.

Step-by-step (~5 minutes first time)

  1. 1

    Download and install v2rayNG APK

From the GitHub release. On devices without Google Play you may need to allow 'Install unknown apps' for your browser first.

  2. 2

    Open v2rayNG → tap '+' top right

    Choose 'Import config from Clipboard'.

  3. 3

Back to jiangren.com.au → Account → VPN tab

    Tap '🔗 Copy SS URL'.

  4. 4

    Switch back to v2rayNG — node auto-imports

If not, repeat '+' → 'Import from Clipboard'.

  5. 5

Long-press the node → 'Real Delay Test'

Pick the lowest latency (local users → Australia; long-distance → singapore > japan > korea).

  6. 6

Tap the 'V' button bottom-right to connect

First time, the OS asks for VPN permission — allow. A key icon shows in the status bar.

  7. 7

    Verify in Chrome with https://ifconfig.me

IP should switch. Try google.com to confirm.

Android troubleshooting

Import fails / not recognised

Make sure the copied URL starts with `ss://`. SSR clients won't recognise SS URLs — stick to v2rayNG or Shadowsocks Android.

Connected but some apps can't reach the internet

v2rayNG Settings → 'Per-app proxy' → switch to 'Global'. Or whitelist Chrome and your study apps.

Connection occasionally unstable

Try singapore region first. If it stays unreachable long-term, email contact@jiangren.com.au — we're evaluating obfs / V2Ray protocol routes.

v2rayNG from Google Play doesn't work

Play Store version is sometimes outdated or stripped — install the latest .apk from GitHub Release instead.

Links go to official sources. If GitHub is slow or unreachable in your region, email contact@jiangren.com.au for mirrors.

Still can't connect?
