课程大纲

    Introduction to Tech Interview
    Pair Programming Interview

    Session 1: Pair Programming Interview

This session introduces students to the technical interview round commonly known as Pair Programming—the first and often most challenging stage of a DevOps interview.

Students will gain an understanding of:

    1. What this round typically involves, how companies assess technical depth, and what kind of thinking and communication styles are expected
    2. How to present your approach clearly while solving a task in real time
    3. The most commonly tested areas in this round, including DevOps tools, automation logic, and platform reliability fundamentals
    4. What makes a technical answer effective vs underwhelming—and how strong candidates stand out under pressure
    5. How to approach unfamiliar or ambiguous problems in a collaborative setting

In addition, this session includes instructor-led demos and curated mock questions to help you build confidence in:

    1. Speaking while coding
    2. Responding clearly under time constraints
    3. Structuring your explanations in English

By the end of this session, you’ll understand how to prepare for technical rounds in a way that highlights not just your hands-on ability, but also your decision-making, technical communication, and problem-solving mindset.

    System Design
    System Design Interview

    Session 2: System Design Interview

In this session, we focus on one of the most important and high-leverage rounds in a DevOps interview: the System Design Interview.

You’ll explore how to approach open-ended design questions that test your ability to think like a platform engineer. Rather than solving narrow tasks, this round requires you to explain how systems should be built, scaled, secured, and maintained over time.

    This session will help you:

    1. Understand what interviewers are looking for when they say “design a system”
    2. Gain familiarity with common design topics and how they relate to real-world DevOps work
    3. Learn to ask clarifying questions, explain design trade-offs, and present architectural decisions with confidence
    4. Build comfort around expressing platform-level thinking in English

You’ll be introduced to design scenarios inspired by actual interview questions, involving topics like:

    1. Deployment pipelines and release governance
    2. Monitoring and alerting considerations
    3. Scalability, reliability, and system resilience
    4. Platform security and secrets management
    5. Infrastructure planning and high availability

Through guided walkthroughs and collaborative mock questions, this session will help you start building the mindset and language needed to succeed in DevOps system design interviews.

    Session 3: Project Deep Dive

This session prepares you for the interview round where you'll be asked to speak in detail about your previous DevOps projects—what you did, how you did it, and why it mattered.

In a real DevOps interview, it’s not enough to say you “built a pipeline” or “used Kubernetes.” You need to explain your technical decisions, the impact of your work, and how you handled challenges in a clear, structured way.

    In this session, you will:

    1. Learn how to present your past projects in a way that reflects depth, ownership, and engineering thinking
    2. Understand how to highlight your tech stack, deployment practices, and decision-making process
    3. Build clarity in discussing system reliability, rollout and rollback strategies, and production readiness
    4. Practice framing your work from a problem-solution-results perspective, in English

You’ll also explore what types of project questions interviewers ask—and how strong answers can differentiate you from candidates who only “list tools.”

By the end of this session, you’ll be better equipped to turn your real-world experience into compelling stories that demonstrate your value as a DevOps engineer.

    Behavioural&Managerial Interview
    Behavioral & Managerial Interview

Session 4: Behavioral & Managerial Interview

This session focuses on the non-technical rounds of the DevOps interview process—often the most overlooked, yet highly influential when it comes to final hiring decisions.

You’ll learn how to confidently handle questions that assess your communication style, leadership potential, problem-solving mindset, and ability to work within a team.

    In this session, we’ll explore:

    1. What interviewers are really looking for in behavioral and managerial conversations
    2. How to reflect on your own experiences and speak with clarity, structure, and authenticity
    3. Strategies to talk about challenges, mistakes, conflict resolution, and personal growth
    4. How to present your strengths without sounding generic
    5. What makes someone a “good cultural fit” in a DevOps or engineering team

By the end of this session, you’ll be more comfortable expressing not just what you know technically—but also who you are as a teammate, contributor, and future colleague.

    Mock Interview
    Mock Interview

    Session 5: Mock Interviews

In this final session, each student will participate in a 15–20 minute 1-on-1 mock interview with the instructor.

You’ll be able to choose which interview round you'd like to focus on, based on your personal goals or current challenges—whether it’s:

    1. Technical interview (e.g., Pair Programming)
    2. System Design
    3. Project Deep Dive
    4. Behavioral or Managerial Interview

This session is designed to simulate a real interview setting and help you:

    1. Practice thinking and responding under realistic pressure
    2. Apply the techniques and structures learned in previous sessions
    3. Receive personalized feedback on your performance
    4. Identify specific areas for improvement and build interview confidence

By the end of this session, you’ll walk away with a clearer sense of where you stand—and what you need to focus on to succeed in real DevOps interviews.
