As an Engineer, your mission is to design, build, manage and support technical assets and solutions that enrich our customers online banking experience. You’ll be a role model for our ways of working and be passionate about coaching, mentoring and developing others to be the best versions of themselves. You will provide technical guidance and leadership, seeking feedback and providing feedback to others to help them learn and grow every-day. In this role you'll be a promoter and ambassador of the new culture and ways of working.
You will deeply understand engineering and the ETL environments to increase the quality and efficiency of the outcomes being delivered by the squads as well ensuring the stability of systems.
As an Engineer in the Enterprise Data and Reporting tech area, you will design, build, test and support applications and/or underlying infrastructure. You will work closely with squad members to ensure outcomes meet customer expectations, and build capability in your squad.
You will bring domain knowledge and deep expertise of Teradata and DataStage and ensuring delivery of best practice end-to-end engineering respecting ANZ architecture standards. You will challenge inefficient engineering/solution development practice in ANZ and influence change in your field to drive better business outcomes.
The role will focus on:
- Liaising with business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solution in a timely manner that meets the ANZ Enterprise solution principles and standards
- Working collaboratively with stakeholders within and outside of your squad to build new components to the eco-system and implement in production
- Sourcing data from a variety of sources to combine, synthesise and automate to deliver the eco-system
- Supporting a fact-based culture throughout the bank through ensuring the eco-system has accurate data sourced from proven reliable sources
- Clearly communicating and presenting updates to technical and non-technological stakeholders
- Educating and upskilling the squad and chapter on data engineering applications and methods to improve efficiency and accuracy and service to our customers
- Leading and involved in troubleshooting for service recovery
- Working in collaborative teams to build innovative solutions
- Utilising tools and practices to build, verify and deploy solutions in the most efficient ways, enhancing tech division capabilities
- Providing ongoing support for platforms as required e.g. problem and incident management
Job Requirement
About You
- The engineer will be part of squad and collaborate with other members of the tribe to deliver business outcomes using the agile methodology.
- Experience and proficiency in at least one high-volume data processing environment (Teradata, Oracle, BigQuery or equivalent).
- A growth mindset and desire to continually learn and share new techniques and ideas
- Strong Experience and expertise in data warehousing, data pipeline, analytics and reporting, complimented with solid Software Engineering design and principle fundamentals
- Ability to quickly synthesis business requirements and translate into business & data requirements
- A strong background in data processing and software engineering and can build high quality, scalable data products
- Experience with software engineering practices including CI/CD, Automated testing and Performance Engineering.
- Manage incidents/problems, apply fixes and resolve systematic issues; triage issues with stakeholders and identify and implement solutions to restore productivity
- Optimise data flows by building robust, fault-tolerant data pipeline that cleans, transforms, and aggregates data into databases or data sources
- Experience with Agile development methodology
- You will also have the following specialised skills
- Deep expertise in datastage development and platform admin activities
- Solid hands on expertise on database technologies like teradata and Oracle.
- Experience in monitoring tools like splunk
- Fair understanding of enterprise data assets
- Experience in Ctrl-M or any other scheduling tools
- Hands-on exposure to Devops and automation tools. Good understanding of all Atlassian suits like bitbucket , bamboo
- Knowledge and understanding in code branching strategies, data ingestion frameworks and SQL
- Cloud (specifically Google cloud platform) skills is desirable.
