Position Title: Graduate Web Applications Developer (eLIPSE)

DUTY STATEMENT
Primary Purpose of Position
The primary function of the position is to participate in and contribute to a high-performing,
multidisciplinary, agile team tasked with the design, development, integration and evaluation
of online learning applications that enhance the student learning experience.
Duties
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Software Development
• As part of the eLIPSE development team, work collaboratively to create innovative
online learning applications;
• Use industry best practice to define and guide team development work using
eLIPSE’s agile methodologies during the complete software lifecycle;
• Use DevOps to streamline the build, test, and release pipelines for software projects;
• Provide ongoing support and maintenance for deployed projects;
• Create, review, and maintain documentation pertaining to eLIPSE processes and
projects;
• Communicate with project stakeholders throughout the development process,
including provision of progress reports, sprint planning input, and responding to
stakeholder enquiries; and
• Actively participate in the growth of eLIPSE as the team changes and adapts to
advances in technology and the IT industry.

The position reports to the eLIPSE Business and Software Development Manager

Job Requirement

SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential
• A bachelors degree with a significant computing component (or equivalent) OR an
equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
• Experience contributing to a small agile team to develop innovative new solutions.
• Experience developing full-stack web applications using a range of current
technologies, e.g., JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, AWS, SQL & NoSQL databases
• Demonstrated effective communication skills, and experience in dealing with and
communicating with a diverse range of people.
• Demonstrated organisational and time management skills, coupled with problem
solving and analytical abilities.
• Aspirations of continuous learning and self-improvement, evidenced by a passion for
technical knowledge and development of a diverse skill set.
Desirable
• Experience deploying DevOps solutions, to improve development process and
project release outcomes.
• Experience with a range of current technolgoies, particularly in relation to web
applications such as Java, Python and PHP, or others.

The Faculty’s eLearning Innovations and Partnerships in Science and Engineering (eLIPSE)
provides software development services and technical support/maintenance services for
bespoke eLearning technologies that originate from the needs of the students and the
inventiveness of academics in the Faculties of Engineering, Architecture and Information
Technology and Science.
eLIPSE acts as an incubator for innovative new technologies. The eLIPSE online
applications development team operates at the cutting edge of eLearning software tools.
Agile methodologies and a pragmatic approach are used to rapidly create and foster and
pilot new concept applications. In conjunction with the University’s Information Technology
Services (ITS), successful tools are further refined with the aim of delivery and deployment
across the University.

The development team is based in the Faculty of EAIT, and works collaboratively with
academic project leaders primarily in the Faculty of EAIT and the Faculty of Science.
