Junior System Engineer

Overview

As an entry-level engineer in our team, you will get exposure to state of the art trading systems and learn from some of the brightest technologists in Australia. This role will allow you to build a versatile technical skillset that will span across system engineering, development and support.

In this role, you will work with others to:

• Monitor and ensure the stability of business systems
• Ensure the stability of continuous integration systems
• Maintain a (large) distributed system (compute and storage) used for data generation and model building
• Become the point of escalation for all problems involving our production network, data generation and physical trading processes
• Design and overseeing the implementation of server and network hardware

What we're looking for

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree in technical or related discipline
• Understanding of how a Linux environment functions
• Knowledge of one or more of the following languages: Python, Ruby, Perl
• Knowledge of a compiled C-family language (preferably C++)
• Automation and scripting knowledge
•  

Apart from your technical knowledge, you will bring these qualities to the team:

• Strong Problem Solving skills
• Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions (a trading floor)
• Ability to convey technically complex subjects in a clear and concise manner
• Initiative and desire to take ownership of tasks
• Strong time management, organization and prioritization skills
