This unit develops students’ understanding of information technology strategy and governance by introducing key theories and frameworks (e.g., Strategic Alignment and maturity, Knowledge Management, and COBIT governance framework) in addition to facilitating active learning through case studies. The unit discusses IT governance in the context of strategy implementation and considers the current development of IT in business contexts, including digital transformation, Big Data, artificial intelligence, cyber security and risks, and the associated human and infrastructure management issues. The unit takes into account relevant legislation and standards and draws on case studies to differentiate strategies focused primarily on people, business processes, and technologies that can facilitate each approach. You will also have opportunities to engage in critical discussions on IT strategy and governance related studies with peers.
