This unit examines the way in which the international community tackles existing and future environmental problems including climate change, species decline, and pollution. International obligations in respect of various environmental issues will be examined, as will the way in which these obligations subsequently penetrate into the national legal order. A feature of the unit is to examine fragmentation in the law and break down the partition and explore similarities between international environmental law and other areas of the law including: finance; trade and human rights.
