📖 课程概览

This unit explores the role of nurses and midwives in a multicultural society. Study in the unit will provide nurses and midwives with the framework to improve health care for those from a culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background. People from a CALD background often experience many challenges accessing health care to include health disparities and inequities. This unit, extends the knowledge and skills of nurses and midwives working cross-culturally, and comprises of four modules: 1) general principles of working cross-culturally in contemporary health care, 2) working cross-culturally with patients, families and carers, 3) working cross-culturally with other healthcare professionals in cultural and interdisciplinary contexts, and 4) building cross-cultural practice and care related policy and systems.

📋 Workload

12 hours per week of teacher facilitated and self directed study, including tutorials and online activities. Please refer to Moodle for tutorial types and requirements.

Critically analyse organisational and systems governance structures and existing policies that improve the culturally competent health care.
