This unit will provide you with a theoretical and practical overview of assessment and intervention that adheres to evidence-based practice. More specifically, this will include: 1) coverage of the theoretical background relating to the development of classes of tests; 2) scoring and interpretation of a range of psychological tests and classification tools; 3) exploration of a number of evidence-based therapeutic modalities that can be implemented with individuals experiencing common psychological presentations; and 4) reflection opportunities relating to client and clinician factors that can influence the planning and implementation of assessment and intervention methods in various psychological settings.

📋 Workload

You should expect to spend an average of 20-25 hours per week. Broadly, this time will cover: Video materials (2hrs) Synchronous & asynchronous discussion (2hrs) Synchronous web-based 'class-time' for skills-based activities (2hrs) Weekly readings (4-6hrs) Weekly skills-based assessment (4-6hrs, including formative assessment) Knowledge-based assessment (4-5hrs, including revision) Each week there will be a one hour ‘Live class’, facilitated by your instructor. This will be followed by a live office hour, where you can ask questions and chat with your classmates and instructor about anything to do with the unit or psychology in general.
