Implement biopsychosocial case formulation to guide the development of client goals and neuropsychological rehabilitation plans.
Develop and apply evidence-based cognitive rehabilitation approaches, psychological therapies and positive behaviour support interventions, tailored for individuals with neuropsychological impairments.
Critically evaluate and integrate evidence-based intervention techniques to address cognitive, emotional, and behavioural consequences of brain impairment for improving everyday functioning across the lifespan.
Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions by employing reliable and valid outcome measures that are relevant and meaningful to a patient’s everyday life and goals.
Educate and advocate for the role and value of neuropsychology in neurorehabilitation, while integrating the perspectives and interventions from related disciplines into holistic neurorehabilitation plans.
This assessment task involves identifying a case from placement and applying a rehabilitative intervention with support. This may be a cognitive, behavioural or psychological approach, or a combination. The intervention can be with the client, close other, or team consultation. Assessment of the casebook includes the background, literature relevant to the individual, context and their rehabilitation, assessment and formulation for rehabilitation, goals and outcome measures, rehabilitation and clinical reasoning, and reflections.
The purpose of this assessment task is to provide trainees with an opportunity to apply and receive feedback on some of their rehabilitation skills developed in the unit thus far. For example, goal setting, cognitive rehabilitation, supporting behaviour, adapting rehabilitation, and working within a multidisciplinary team. Two case scenarios will be provided with brief videos and written work required in response.
