GRADUATE CAREERS · YOUR DESTINATION

Graduate careers. Where will you begin?

Where would you like to work? Choose a destination to read about applications and see preparation examples. It does not have to be the country where you studied.

Still deciding where to start?

Start with where you want to work, then check the roles you can apply for. Your study destination, nationality and target job market may differ.

01

Choose a target job market

Read about the place where you want to work. If you studied overseas and plan to return to China, start with China. If you are comparing two destinations, read both country pages.

02

Check an actual job advertisement

Find a role that interests you. Note its responsibilities, graduation criteria, experience, language, location and work eligibility requirements. Compare them with your circumstances to identify what to prepare.

03

Turn existing work into evidence

Choose a relevant project and explain your responsibilities, decisions and work that someone can inspect. Each country page includes Alex’s complete action plan, resume project entry and interview project story.

Questions before choosing a destination

Some answers to help you choose a destination and prepare your materials.

How do I choose a country if I have not decided where to work?
Shortlist two target job markets and find a relevant job advertisement in each. Compare the role, graduation criteria, language, location and work eligibility requirements, then read both country pages. Personal eligibility needs to be checked against your circumstances, employer announcements and official requirements; these pages do not determine it.
Which page should I read if I studied overseas and plan to return to China?
Start with the China graduate careers page if China is your target job market. Note your graduation date, expected return date and target role, then check the specific criteria for campus recruitment, internships or other recruitment routes. Choose by where you want to work, rather than only where you studied.
Where can I start without an internship or relevant work experience?
Start with a target role and a relevant academic or personal project. Document its context, your responsibilities, process and work that can be inspected. The country pages include complete preparation examples. Keep academic projects, personal projects and employment distinct; do not present a learning project as an employer internship.
How do referrals, project practice and career coaching differ?
A referral is a recommendation channel; progression still depends on the role and employer. Project practice focuses on work you can show and explain. Career coaching supports direction, application materials and interview communication. Confirm the actual arrangement, deliverables, responsible person, timing and fees separately. None should be treated as a job guarantee.
What should I prepare before a consultation?
Prepare your target job market, graduation date, preferred roles and main concern, plus a resume or project description if you are comfortable sharing one. A specific job advertisement can also help the discussion. You can read the pages and complete examples first without registering or uploading materials.
