DIRECTION / ACTION PLAN

Alex’s role direction and action plan

Target and route

Compare a UK graduate analyst scheme with a directly advertised junior analyst role. Record the employer’s criteria, deadline and selection stages.

Evidence available

The budget review contains six entries, category totals, a GBP 30 adverse variance and a recommendation. Alex owns the reconciliation and reasoning, not a real organisation’s finances.

Gaps to resolve

Obtain underlying documents before attributing cost causes. Check personal work eligibility separately. There is no employer experience or realised saving to claim.

Next actions

Compare two real advertisements; map analysis duties to the budget record; tailor an English CV; prepare explanations for the stated selection stages; record actual applications and replies.

Questions for support

Confirm whether relevant coaching, practice or specific recommendation arrangements are available. Agree provider, outputs, timing, fees and terms; keep employer and official decisions separate.

03 / PEOPLE AND PRACTICE

Meet the advisers. Read about the services.

Read the adviser profiles, P3 project details and coaching information before deciding whether to get in touch.

What the practice involves

Review the P3 approach and participation process, connecting tasks, responsibility and outputs.

YOUR NEXT STEP

Turn a vague opportunity into a specific role or arrangement.

Clarify the actual United Kingdom role and any recommendation arrangements. An internal recommendation, a job listing, an employer internship and a learning project offer different forms of support. Clarify which one is being discussed.

What you can do next

  1. Share your target market, role, graduation timing and relevant experience.
  2. For a specific opportunity, verify the role, hiring organisation, recommendation or participation process and next steps.
  3. For paid support, confirm deliverables, provider, timing, fees and terms.

WORK RIGHTS

UK graduate jobs: work permission now and sponsorship later

Completing an eligible UK course affects your options. A Graduate Scheme is an employer recruitment programme; a Graduate visa is immigration permission.

Policy checked:

UK graduates: check the Graduate visa window

You generally need to be in the UK on a Student or Tier 4 visa, have completed an eligible UK course and have completion reported by your provider. Apply before your current student permission expires; you need not wait for the ceremony. The visa allows job searching and most work, but cannot be extended.

Skilled Worker: check sponsorship for the specific role

You need an approved employer, an eligible job and a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS), alongside salary, English and other requirements. Ask whether this vacancy offers sponsorship. A sponsor licence does not mean every graduate vacancy is sponsored. An overseas degree alone does not qualify you for a UK Graduate visa.

Right-to-work evidence: prepare before joining

Use the official evidence route for your status, including a share code where the online service applies. Explain when your current permission ends and whether you will later need sponsorship. The length of a recruitment programme does not determine your immigration permission.

Before you apply or agree a start date

  1. Confirm that your university has reported completion, then record your Student visa expiry and intended application date.
  2. Answer current work-permission and future-sponsorship questions separately and accurately.
  3. Compare the proposed start date with your permission and ask whether the employer would consider a later visa switch.

This is general job-search information, not an assessment of your immigration eligibility. Rules and individual conditions can change. Check official guidance and your own permission before applying, interning or starting work.

Questions you may have

Where should I start if I have not chosen a role in the UK?
Choose a role that interests you and compare two real advertisements with your experience. Read the duties and application criteria before deciding which skills or projects to work on. Compare internship, graduate and junior routes as relevant to your circumstances.
What should I review if my applications get no replies?
Check the advertised criteria, required documents and how clearly your application explains relevant work. Review the employer’s stated process in the UK and keep a record of actual applications and replies. No reply alone does not establish the cause. Bring a specific advertisement and application when asking for help.
Is a graduate scheme the only route after university?
Compare schemes with directly advertised graduate or junior roles. Employers set their own criteria, dates and processes; use the actual advertisement to decide how to prepare.
Will every application include an assessment centre?
Do not assume a universal process. The National Careers Service describes possible stages including applications, tests, interviews and assessment centres. Prepare for the steps published by your target employer.
Is a Graduate visa the same as a graduate scheme?
They are different: one concerns immigration permission, the other an employer recruitment and training route. Check current GOV.UK information for personal visa questions; a scheme application does not establish permission to work.
What belongs in a graduate CV project entry?
Describe the problem, your individual contribution, method, output and limits. The complete budget review shows the calculation and reasoning behind its English CV entry.
Does career support guarantee an offer or sponsorship?
No. Confirm the service and deliverables before paying. Employers decide recruitment and any sponsorship arrangements; relevant authorities decide immigration applications.
